Week 9 (Allyson)

Rosario and San Bernardo Corals

Isla De Rosario

I captured these photos when I traveled to Cartagena, Colombia. Colombia has many traditions and beautiful sights; however, I was more amazed by a boat tour I took which lead me to know more about Colombia's National Parks. The 2 photos are small islands off the shore of Cartagena. These islands are considered National Parks and each one is separate from the other. Colombia protects all these small islands as they are important coral reefs and biodiversity.

Mirzoeff, How to See the World Chapter 5
“Nineteenth-century Paris was a city world in which the urban observer claimed a certain cultural power by seeing without being seen.”
This quote is explaining how the observer is able to analyze the culture that Paris has but not including himself into it. Keeping a watch from a distance while still embracing the culture their is.

Mirzoeff, How to See the World Chapter 7
"Its promise is not pleasure, but of happiness: happiness as judged from the outside by others."
This quote is important because of the way I interpret it is that whatever anyone decides to make make such as a art piece or capture a picture, it is because it brings them happiness. Sone forms of art made by individuals many not feel happy from their art but others from the outside may view it as a sense of happiness.
