For this week's assignment, I decided to make my performance around a freeform painting expressing a way of thinking and creating things with the shapes that naturally come to your mind while creating a picture. In this piece I wanted to show the viewer how I just naturally painted whatever came to my mind and worked with the shapes that came out of my brush. I really wanted to stress the natural feeling and abstract shaping in my painting to express the thought of having a free-flowing imagination and how you can make anything with the shapes and lines your brush leads you to make. It is sort of like a dance, where both the brush and you are pathing together and making these strokes of paint on the canvas. While thinking of this week's project, I thought about the quote in Yoko Ono's story stating"Yoko Ono rather perceives it as a direct connection with activism," and how I wanted my painting to connect to the audience with nature through these abstract forms of shaping in the painting. Another quote from Yoko Ono's interview that I took account of during my thinking process of my project this week was "Blending her creative force and artistic expression with activism and performance, Yoko Ono art pioneered the ideas of feminism in artistic practice." While looking at this quote, I thought to myself how I was able to blend the talents and skills that I had to create a deeper idea that everyone was able to feel and understand in their own personal life and expand on that. For a while, I had no idea what I wanted to do for my project, but when looking at the Khan Academy reading, a quote that helped me a lot was "Historically, performance art has been a medium that challenges and violates borders between disciplines and genders, between private and public, and between everyday life and art, and that follows no rules." Not only has this quote helped guide the direction of making my performance, but it also helped me come up with the concept of nature, and how in nature there are no rules to life, there is only paths and it is up to you what paths to take and walk.

Week 8 - Natural Touch
