Week III

On A Time Crunch

The artist that influenced me during these reading has been Carrie Weems. Her picture let you in and showed you what she does everyday or on most days at the kitchen table.  She said a quote here “I think that most work that’s made by black artist is considered to be about blackness. Unlike work that’s made by white artists, which is assumed to be universal at its core,” yet the “ Kitchen Table Series” is universal. I decided to take pictures of what’s universal routine is for a women right before they go out. I feel that this is relatable for any college girl. When we go out with friends and family, or even to work and for the most part we are in a rush making a mess trying to put together the perfect outfit for the day or night.

The first picture is my laptop playing music. This is the first thing I do everyday before I get ready. I feel that music is a very big part of many peoples lives in this generation. I play music while I’m taking a shower, getting ready, while I’m on my way to work, and even at work. In my opinion it sets the tone for the day and makes everything better.

The second picture is the end result me doing my makeup. Every night I organize my room but when I get ready it gets messy all over again, which I feel represents living at a fast pace which many of us do. We rush getting ready for work in the morning, meetings, or for nights out and don’t have time to tidy up what we might have displaced while getting ready.

Up next is a picture of my laundry. This is because while im getting ready and trying on different outfits I do not put them back to my closet until I get back home or during the next morning. I tend to just throw all my clothes in the laundry because I do t want them on my bed or on the floor.

Lastly my shoes. At the moment I just have two pairs of shoes out but when I normally have no idea what shows to wear. I will bring out various pairs of shoes and leave them in the corner of my bed, so I can put them back when I get home.
